Meet Bertie

Bertie (full name: Bertie Bloodcell) is Leukaemia CARE’s fundraising mascot and where possible, he goes wherever Leukaemia CARE’s fundraisers go. If you’re a runner then you’re automatically a member of Team Bertie, and in the BUPA Great North Run and even the Virgin London Marathon you’re likely to see Bertie crossing the finishing line!

Follow Bertie's adventures on his blog http://blogbertie.blogspot.com

Bertie Likes:
  • Posing for photos
  • Being seen on the telly
  • Meeting fundraisers
  • Waving
  • Meeting children
  • Running long distances

Bertie Dislikes:

  • Missing out on fun
  • Being mistaken for a giant M&M or tomato
  • Meeting animals – they tend to be scared of him
  • Getting stuck in doorways

Bertie says: “Being a giant bloodcell is hard work but I love having a go at the runs and marathons. Meeting all the lovely people who help Leukaemia CARE is fun too. Blood cancer is a serious issue but being a giant bloodcell makes it really easy for me to highlight the charity to people who wouldn’t otherwise know we’re here to help. Have a look at our CARE website to see what it is that we do
